It’s Bill Pay made better – the new bill pay timing gives you more control and clearer timing on when funds will subtract from your account!
Bill Pay Timing Summary
- One-Time Same Day or Next Day Payments:
- Funds are debited from your account immediately if the payment is setup to be sent on the same business day or the next business day.
- One-Time Future Scheduled Payments:
- Payments that are scheduled to be sent on a future date will have the funds debited from your account on the business day prior to that scheduled payment. If the funds are not available, the bill payment will not be sent to the payee.
- Recurring Payments:
- If the first payment is scheduled to send the same business day or next business day, the funds are debited from your account immediately. The recurring payments in the future will debit from your account on the business day prior to that scheduled payment. If the funds are not available, the bill payment will not be sent to the payee.
- Recurring Payments with the first payment scheduled in the future will have the funds debited from your account on the business day prior to those scheduled payments. If the funds are not available, the bill payment will not be sent to the payee.
- Funds Availability:
- Bill Pay will check for funds one business day before the funds are sent from your account. For example, this means that if you schedule a payment for Friday, the system will verify funds on Thursday.
- If your direct deposit or paycheck typically arrives on Friday, for example, this change could affect the timing of your scheduled payments you may have set up to debit from your account the same day. If there are not sufficient funds available in the account one business day before the deposit and the bill payment is due to debit the same day, the payment will fail. To ensure your payments process is smooth, please consider one of the following options to ensure a successful payment or transfer delivery:
- Schedule your payment or transfer to be sent the next business day after your deposit.
- Manually send your payment or transfer after you have received your direct deposit or paycheck on the same day.
If you have already scheduled your payment to debit your account the same day as your direct deposit or paycheck and sufficient funds are not available to cover the bill payment one business day before the deposit, you will need to reschedule or manually resend your payment once your deposit or paycheck is available in your bill pay funding account.
